CVE-2024-21532Public exploitNetwork attack vector

OS command execution via unsanitized branch concatenation

Published Oct 8, 2024 · Updated Mar 21, 2026

Command injection in Gleb Bahmutov ggit allows attackers to execute OS commands by passing a crafted branch to fetchTags. The fetchTags(branch) API concatenates the branch string into a Git command and sends the resulting shell text to Node.js child_process.exec() without neutralizing command separators. Exploitation requires consuming code to pass attacker-controlled branch data, and injected commands run with the privileges of the Node.js process.
