CVE-2024-21531Public exploit

Command execution via injected clone option

Published Oct 1, 2024 · Updated Nov 7, 2024

Argument injection in git-shallow-clone 0.0.2 and earlier allows local users to execute commands by supplying a crafted clone path. gitShallowClone appends clonePath to Git's argument array without an option terminator, so a leading --upload-pack value is parsed as an option. Exploitation requires control of clonePath in a calling Node.js application; the injected program runs with that application's privileges.
