Unauthenticated local file read via permissive Chromium deny-list
Published Jul 19, 2024 · Updated Jul 8, 2026
SSRF in Gotenberg before 8.1.0 allows remote attackers to read container files through its Chromium HTML-conversion endpoint. The /convert/html route renders uploaded HTML whose localhost-style iframe source bypasses the default --chromium-deny-list, causing Chromium to embed the referenced file in the returned PDF. No authentication or user interaction is required; HTTP API reachability and the vulnerable default filter permit disclosure of files accessible inside the container.
