Process-memory disclosure via unchecked negative index handling
Published Jul 10, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in MagicLen node-stringbuilder 2.2.7 and earlier allows attackers to disclose process memory via negative indexes. ToString, ToBuffer, and CharAt calculate memory lengths from unchecked negative indexes and return data outside the StringBuilder's intended buffer. Exposure requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled indexes into these APIs; successful calls reveal previously allocated process memory.
