Authenticated code execution via traversal archive extraction
Published Jun 22, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Path traversal in the OpenCart marketplace installer from 4.0.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary files. The installer normalizes separators but leaves traversal segments in archive entry names before creating directories and passing the derived paths to file_put_contents. Marketplace modification privileges are required; a crafted extension can place executable PHP in the web root and run commands with the web process's access.
