Authenticated code execution via evaluated database values
Published Jul 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Code injection in LangChain Experimental 0.0.15 through 0.0.20 allows remote authenticated users to execute Python code through prompts. VectorSQLDatabaseChain's get_result_from_sqldb passes every database value to _try_eval, which invokes Python eval without restricting code. Exploitation requires control of an input prompt and a server configured with VectorSQLDatabaseChain, granting code execution in the host process.
