CVE-2024-21502Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application crash via uninitialized point result

Published Feb 24, 2024 · Updated Nov 1, 2024

Use of an uninitialized variable in fastecdsa before 2.3.2 allows attackers to crash applications through crafted point multiplication. The curvemath_mul binding passes an uninitialized PointZZ_p result to pointZZ_pMul and later clears its GMP fields, allowing invalid free or realloc operations. Reachability requires an application to pass attacker-controlled curve and point values into the binding; the demonstrated consequence is process termination, while heap exploitation remains unproven.
