CVE-2024-21490Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Browser hang via ng-srcset regex backtracking

Published Feb 10, 2024 · Updated Jul 6, 2026

Regular-expression denial of service in Google AngularJS 1.3.0 through 1.8.3 allows remote attackers to hang browser applications via ng-srcset. The ng-srcset parser splits attacker-controlled source-set text with a backtracking-prone regular expression; long space runs between multiple URLs drive super-linear CPU use. Exploitation requires an application to bind attacker-controlled text to ng-srcset, and the bounded consequence is a hang in the browser context processing that view.
