CVE-2024-21455

Kernel memory corruption via shared compat flag

Published Oct 7, 2024 · Updated Oct 7, 2024

Memory corruption in Qualcomm Snapdragon firmware allows local users with low privileges to read, alter, or crash kernel memory. The FastRPC driver stores compat-IOCTL state in a file-descriptor global flag, so a following normal IOCTL treats a user-supplied address as a kernel pointer. Access to the driver device and two ordered IOCTL calls is required; successful exploitation compromises kernel confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
