Remote code execution via integer overflow
Published Mar 12, 2024 · Updated May 3, 2025
Remote code execution in Microsoft WDAC OLE DB Provider for SQL Server allows remote attackers to run code through a malicious database. The provider mishandles an integer calculation while processing a malicious SQL Server response; Microsoft identifies CWE-190 but discloses no function-level operation. Exploitation requires an authenticated victim on the network to use a SQL client to connect to the attacker's database, and code runs in that client's context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
