CVE-2024-21363

Local code execution via MSMQ type confusion

Published Feb 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Type confusion in Microsoft Message Queuing on affected Windows releases allows local users to execute arbitrary code via local access. Microsoft identifies incompatible-type resource access but has not published the specific code locus or incorrect operation on attacker-controlled input. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access and no user interaction; the resulting code can compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
