Remote code execution via heap buffer overflow
Published Feb 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in the Microsoft WDAC OLE DB provider for SQL Server allows remote attackers to execute code on Windows systems. Microsoft identifies the provider and weakness class but has not disclosed the parsing routine, malformed field, or missing bounds check. Exploitation requires user interaction with attacker-controlled network data, and successful execution can compromise data and interrupt the affected process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
