Remote code execution via heap buffer overflow
Published Feb 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects on affected Windows releases allows remote attackers to execute code. Microsoft identifies the weakness as CWE-122 but has not disclosed the affected function, parser, input format, or exact unchecked heap write. Exploitation requires a user to interact with attacker-controlled content, after which code can run in that user's security context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
