Stored XSS via unescaped X follow link
Published Apr 17, 2024 · Updated Nov 22, 2024
Stored XSS in Clever Widgets' Social Media Share Buttons plugin before 2.8.9 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript. The X follow-link URL setting accepts quote-breaking event-handler text and renders it in the X icon's frontend link without adequate sanitization or output escaping. An administrator must save the crafted setting and add the widget, and a visitor must load the frontend and move the pointer over the X menu to execute the stored script in the site's origin.
