CVE-2024-21111Public exploit

Local takeover via undisclosed Core flaw

Published Apr 16, 2024 · Updated May 9, 2025

Improper privilege management in Oracle VM VirtualBox Core before 7.0.16 allows local users to take over VirtualBox on Windows hosts. Oracle has not disclosed the specific Core operation that mishandles privileges. A later public exploit claims that VBoxSDS log-directory handling can be raced with directory junctions to overwrite an MSI rollback script, but its target label conflicts with Oracle's affected-version boundary.
