Authenticated server hang or repeatable crash
Published Jan 16, 2024 · Updated Jun 20, 2025
Optimizer denial of service in MySQL Server 8.0.35 and earlier and 8.2.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to hang or crash the server. Oracle identifies the Server: Optimizer component but has not disclosed the malformed query, optimizer operation, or resource-handling error that triggers the failure. A low-privileged account with network access over the MySQL Protocol is required, and the reported consequence is limited to a server hang or frequently repeatable crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
