CVE-2024-20877

Arbitrary code execution via grid-header overflow

Published Jun 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Heap out-of-bounds write in libsavscmn.so on Samsung Android 12 through 14 allows local users to execute arbitrary code via a grid image. The grid-image header parser writes beyond a heap buffer while parsing header data; Samsung describes the faulty parsing implementation but discloses no function-level details. Local reachability is required, while Samsung's CVSS assessment reports no prior privileges or user interaction and bounds impact to arbitrary code execution.
