Privilege escalation via unvalidated incoming intent
Published Jun 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Improper access control in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Jun-2024 Release 1 allows local attackers to launch privileged SmartManagerCN activities. SmartManagerCN fails to validate an incoming intent properly, allowing an untrusted local caller to invoke activities with elevated component privileges. Exploitation requires local application-level access to an Android 13 or 14 device and can alter privileged state or interrupt device availability.
