Arbitrary memory write via missing boundary checks
Published Jun 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Improper input validation in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Jun-2024 Release 1 allows local privileged attackers to write memory out of bounds. The caminfo driver omits proper boundary checks before writing, so a privileged local request can direct a write beyond the intended memory region. Exploitation requires local high-privilege access on an Android 14 device with an Exynos s5e8825 chipset; Samsung reports arbitrary memory write but not code execution.
