CVE-2024-20840

Unauthorized lock-screen use via hardware keyboard

Published Mar 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Improper access control in Samsung Voice Recorder on affected Android 12–14 builds allows physically proximate attackers to use it while locked. The lock-screen access path accepts hardware-keyboard input without enforcing the access control that should block Voice Recorder while the device is locked. Physical possession, a connected hardware keyboard, and an affected build are required; Samsung reports unauthorized app use but does not disclose which functions become accessible.
