CVE-2024-20831

Privileged code execution via bootloader stack overflow

Published Mar 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 23, 2024

Stack overflow in Samsung Mobile Devices’ Little Kernel bootloader before SMR Mar-2024 Release 1 allows local privileged attackers to execute code. Samsung discloses only improper handling of an exceptional condition in Little Kernel; no vulnerable function, operation, or input format is public. Reaching the flaw requires local privileged access on a selected Android 11, 12, 13, or 14 MediaTek device, and successful exploitation executes arbitrary code in the bootloader.
