ATF memory disclosure via unchecked SMC index
Published Feb 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in the bootloader of Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Feb-2024 Release 1 allows local privileged users to read ATF memory. The mediatek_plat_sip_handler_kernel path accepts an attacker-controlled SMC index without bounds checking and returns four bytes from the indexed ATF virtual address. Root-level access to a selected Android 11, 12, or 13 MediaTek device is required, and disclosure is confined to ARM Trusted Firmware data.
