CVE-2024-20817

Memory corruption via unchecked libsthmbc.so buffer write

Published Feb 6, 2024 · Updated May 8, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in libsthmbc.so on Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Feb-2024 Release 1 allows local users to corrupt memory. The svc1td_vld_slh routine performs inadequate bounds checking and writes beyond its destination buffer while processing input. Triggering requires local access and user interaction but no prior privileges; the published consequence is a buffer overflow, not demonstrated code execution.
