CVE-2024-20804

Arbitrary file writes via path traversal

Published Jan 4, 2024 · Updated Apr 17, 2025

Path traversal in the file manager on affected Samsung Mobile Devices allows local users to write arbitrary files outside intended directories. FileUriConverter converts an attacker-controlled file URI without confining the resulting path to the intended directory before the file-write operation. Affected devices run Android 11 or 12 before SMR Jan-2024 Release 1, or the file-manager app before 14.5.00.21 on Android 13; no prior privileges or user interaction are required.
