Memory disclosure via unchecked CPAL color index
Published Feb 15, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader versions 20.005.30539 and 23.008.20470 and earlier allows attackers to read process memory. The CPAL font parser allocates colorRecordBuf from numColorRecords, then indexes it with colorRecordIndex plus a palette-entry counter without checking that the result remains below numColorRecords. Exploitation requires a victim to open a PDF containing a crafted font and can disclose sensitive process memory that assists mitigation bypass.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
