CVE-2024-20730Public exploit

Code execution via CPAL palette-size overflow

Published Feb 15, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Integer overflow in Adobe Acrobat and Reader 23.008.20470 and earlier or 20.005.30539 and earlier allows attackers to execute code. The CoolType CPAL parser multiplies attacker-controlled numPaletteEntries and numPalettes values by four without checking 32-bit overflow, allocates an undersized heap buffer, then writes past it. A victim must open a PDF containing the crafted font; the resulting heap corruption executes code in the current user's context.
