Unauthenticated file read via single-pass path filtering
Published Mar 5, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Path traversal in Artica Proxy 4.40 and 4.50 allows remote attackers to read files accessible to the www-data user. The images.listener.php endpoint concatenates mailattach to /opt/artica/share/www/attachments/ after stripping traversal substrings only once, allowing nested sequences to survive normalization. No authentication is required, and disclosure is limited to files readable by the web service account.
