CVE-2024-20518Network attack vector

Administrator-authenticated root code execution via HTTP overflow

Published Oct 2, 2024 · Updated Oct 2, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in Cisco RV042, RV042G, RV320, and RV325 router firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute root code. The web management interface improperly validates input in crafted HTTP requests before writing it to a stack buffer. Valid Administrator credentials and management-interface access are required; successful exploitation grants root-level control of the router.
