CVE-2024-20498Network attack vector

AnyConnect VPN restart via malformed session parameters

Published Oct 2, 2024 · Updated Jun 4, 2025

Denial of service in Cisco Meraki MX firmware allows remote attackers to restart AnyConnect VPN via a crafted HTTPS request. The VPN server insufficiently validates client-supplied parameters during SSL VPN session establishment, leading to a double free. AnyConnect VPN must be enabled; exploitation drops established sessions, and sustained requests prevent new connections until traffic stops.
