CVE-2024-20494Network attack vector

Unauthenticated device reload via malformed TLS handshake

Published Oct 23, 2024 · Updated Oct 23, 2024

Improper TLS validation in Cisco ASA and FTD Software allows remote attackers to reload devices through crafted TLS 1.3 packets. The TLS 1.3 handshake path processes an improperly validated packet received through an SSL listening socket. Exploitation requires TLS 1.3 on that socket and causes a device reload and service interruption; ASA can also experience HostScan or ASDM transfer failures.
