Device reload via insufficient IPv4 PIMv2 validation

Denial of service in Cisco IOS XE Software 17.13.1 and 17.13.1a allows remote attackers to reload devices with crafted IPv4 PIMv2 packets. The PIM feature insufficiently validates received IPv4 PIMv2 packets before processing them, allowing a malformed packet to trigger a device reload. No authentication is required, but PIM must be configured on the receiving interface; IPv6 PIM is unaffected, and either IPv4 unicast or multicast delivery reaches the flaw.
