CVE-2024-20426Network attack vector

Unauthenticated device reload via malformed IKEv2 traffic

Published Oct 23, 2024 · Updated Oct 24, 2024

Improper input validation in Cisco ASA and FTD Software allows remote attackers to reload IKEv2 VPN devices with crafted traffic. The IKEv2 VPN termination path insufficiently validates crafted IKEv2 traffic before processing it, leading to a null pointer dereference. The device must run an affected release with IKEv2 enabled; exploitation forces a reload and interrupts firewall and VPN service.
