IS-IS process crash via crafted ingress packets

Improper input validation in Cisco IOS XR Software 6.8, 6.9, and 7.4 through 7.11.1 allows attackers to crash the IS-IS process. IS-IS packet handling insufficiently validates crafted ingress packets before the Flexible Algorithm path processes them, causing the routing process to terminate and restart. Exploitation requires Layer 2 adjacency, an established IS-IS adjacency, Flexible Algorithm, and either Microloop Avoidance or TI-LFA, resulting in a routing-service interruption.
