CVE-2024-20396Network attack vector

Credential disclosure via unsafe file protocol handling

Published Jul 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Information disclosure in Cisco Webex App for Windows allows remote attackers to capture credentials through a crafted link. The Windows file-protocol handler follows the link and causes the application to send requests without safely handling the file scheme, exposing credential-bearing traffic. Exploitation requires user interaction and a privileged network position from which the attacker can observe the requests; no integrity or availability impact is reported.
