Root privilege escalation via user-controlled search path
Published May 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Privilege escalation in the Tail-f HCC function pack for Cisco Crosswork NSO allows local users with valid credentials to execute code as root. HCC uses a user-controlled search path to locate executable files, so crafted application configuration makes it launch an attacker-supplied file. Exploitation requires local authenticated access and an HCC deployment; successful exploitation grants root control of the device.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
