PPPoE service interruption via malformed packet handling

Denial of service in Cisco IOS XR Software on ASR 9000 routers allows attackers to interrupt PPPoE traffic via a crafted adjacent-link packet. The ppp_ma process improperly handles a malformed PPPoE packet received on an affected line-card interface that does not terminate PPPoE. Exposure requires BNG PPPoE termination, a Lightspeed or Lightspeed-Plus line card, and both PPPoE-enabled and non-enabled interfaces; exploitation crashes ppp_ma and disrupts PPPoE traffic across the router.
