Adjacent device reload via malformed OSPFv2 updates

Denial of service in Cisco IOS XE Software's OSPFv2 feature allows attackers on an adjacent network to reload affected devices. The OSPFv2 update processor improperly validates a malformed update and triggers an unexpected device reload. Exposure requires a vulnerable release with OSPF distribute link-state enabled; successful exploitation interrupts network service until the device restarts.
