CVE-2024-20282

Root escalation via insufficiently protected access token

Published Apr 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2024

Privilege escalation in Cisco Nexus Dashboard before 3.1(1k) allows local users with rescue-user credentials to gain root access. Insufficient protection of a sensitive access token lets that account use the token to reach internal device resources beyond its intended privileges. Valid rescue-user credentials and local access are required; successful exploitation grants root access to the filesystem or hosted containers.
