Tampered image loading via boot-console commands
Published Mar 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Secure Boot bypass in Cisco Access Point Software allows physically proximate attackers to load a tampered image through the console. Unnecessary boot-time console commands permit interrupted startup to skip Secure Boot validation and load an image previously placed on the device. Physical console access is required, the image loads only once, and the Secure Boot mechanism is not permanently compromised.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
