Authenticated database modification via missing capability check
Published Jun 4, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in WP-DB-Table-Editor 1.8.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to modify configured database tables. dbte_render enables editing when editcap is unset, while the save and delete handlers likewise skip current_user_can and write attacker-supplied changes. Contributor access is sufficient when a theme has registered an editable table, enabling unauthorized reading, insertion, updates, or deletion.
