Stack overflow in MediaTek Modem LR12A, LR13, NR15, and NR16 branches allows physically proximate attackers to execute code via a rogue base station. The modem writes beyond a stack buffer because it processes base-station input without the required bounds check; MediaTek has not disclosed the affected routine or message. Exploitation requires the user equipment to connect to an attacker-controlled base station, but requires neither prior privileges nor user interaction.
