Local privilege escalation via missing power bounds check
Published Jan 6, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek power code on Android 12.0 through 15.0 and Yocto 3.3, 4.0, and 5.0 allows local users to escalate privileges. The power component performs an out-of-bounds write because it omits a required bounds check, enabling memory corruption. Exploitation requires preexisting System privilege but no user interaction, and successful corruption grants additional local privileges.
