CVE-2024-20130

Privilege escalation via unchecked power buffer write

Published Dec 2, 2024 · Updated Dec 3, 2024

Stack overflow in the power component on MediaTek chipsets running Android 14.0 or 15.0 allows local users to escalate privileges. A missing bounds check permits an out-of-bounds write to a stack buffer in the undisclosed power-component locus. Exploitation requires System execution privileges, needs no user interaction, and can raise code execution beyond that existing context.
