CVE-2024-20119

System-level privilege escalation via incorrect mms bounds check

Published Nov 4, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2024

Write-what-where in MediaTek mms on Android 12.0 through 15.0 allows local users with System privileges to escalate privilege. The mms component applies an incorrect bounds check before a memory write, permitting an out-of-bounds write to an attacker-selected location. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges but no user interaction, and successful corruption can execute with higher privilege.
