Local privilege escalation via fault-skipped status check
Published May 6, 2024 · Updated Mar 19, 2025
Privilege escalation in MediaTek DA on Android 12.0 through 14.0 allows local users with System privileges to gain higher privileges. DA accepts an incorrect status-check result when a fault causes an instruction skip instead of rejecting the operation. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges, needs no user interaction, and affects the listed MediaTek chipsets.
