Local privilege escalation via unchecked keyInstall write
Published May 6, 2024 · Updated Mar 27, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in keyInstall on MediaTek chipsets running Android 12.0 through 14.0 allows local users to escalate privileges. keyInstall writes beyond a destination buffer because it fails to check an input-derived boundary before the write. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges, needs no user interaction, and can elevate code beyond that security context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
