Improper input validation in MediaTek chipset preloaders on Android 12.0 through 14.0 allows local users to elevate privileges. The preloader uses an insecure default value, but MediaTek has not disclosed the affected setting or the validation operation that accepts it. Exploitation requires existing System privilege, needs no user interaction, and grants additional local privilege on the device.
