Local privilege escalation via ATF SPM remapping
Published May 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Privilege escalation in MediaTek chipsets running Android 12.0 through 14.0 allows local users with System privileges to gain higher access. A logic error in the ATF SPM memory-mapping path permits physical memory to be remapped into virtual address space without proper privilege enforcement. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges and no user interaction; MediaTek has not disclosed the affected function or validation failure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
