CVE-2024-20018

Local privilege escalation via WLAN driver out-of-bounds write

Published Mar 4, 2024 · Updated Mar 27, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in the MediaTek MT7615 WLAN driver in SDK 5.1.0.0 and earlier allows local users to escalate privileges. The driver improperly validates input before writing beyond a buffer boundary, but MediaTek does not identify the input path, buffer, or faulty routine. Local access to an affected device is required; successful exploitation raises privileges without prior execution privileges or user interaction.
