Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek da on affected chipsets allows local users with System privileges to gain higher execution privileges. The da component omits a bounds check and writes beyond the intended buffer when it processes untrusted input, although MediaTek has not disclosed the affected function or input format. Exploitation requires preexisting System execution privileges, needs no user interaction, and can corrupt memory to cross a further local privilege boundary.
